Hello Brave Community!   Happy Monday!   It is officially fall!   I love this time of the year; the weather is cooler and life seems more settled.   Our students have settled into their classrooms.   During classroom visits, I can’t help but to notice high levels of authentic engagement. Our teachers are providing an exceptional teaching and learning experience for all of our BRAVE students! As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each week.   Our habit of the week this week is Habit 1: Be Proactive!   We teach and model for our students a “can do” attitude.   We emphasize that each student is in charge of themselves.   We remind them that they chose their actions, as well as their moods. Word of the Week (WOW): This week’s word is “honor”.   It is a verb that means to show respect to something that is important.   Partner with us in focusing on our campus WOW.   Ask your student to use the word in a sentence or perhaps

Hello Brave Community!   I hope that you enjoyed your weekend and had the opportunity to do something that you enjoy.   I was able to spend some time with my extended family.   We gathered to celebrate the birthday of my niece, who happens to be an educator.   This was one of the rare occasions that there was no “shop talk” between the two of us.   However, I did take advantage of one opportunity (when asked how the school year was going) to share how great it is to be the principal at DFT!   It is a genuine feeling of pride.   I am pleased to be part of a hard working staff that provides an exceptional teaching and learning experience for all of our BRAVE students. Hello Brave Community!   I hope that you enjoyed your Labor Day!   I did; I was able to get some much needed rest and relaxation.    There are such amazing things happening each day at Double File Trail!   I get excited when I walk the building; there is authentic student engagement everywhere at DFT!   I am pleased that we are providing an exceptional teaching and learning experience for all of our BRAVE students. Back to School Night: We had an amazing turn out last night at Back to School Night!   Thanks to all of the families that were able to attend.   It was great meeting you.   I look forward to getting to know you better.   If you were not able to attend, I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher to receive the information that was shared last night.
