Week of 1.14.19

Hello Brave Community!

Happy Monday and Happy New Year!  I hope that you had an enjoyable Winter Break! Last week was an exciting first week back.  It was so refreshing to be back among our student body of amazingly smart and kind leaders.  We are rested and ready to continue to provide an exceptional teaching and learning experience for all of our BRAVE students!

As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each week.  Our habit of the week this week is Habit 4: Think Win-Win!   We teach our students how to think of others when problem solving.  Our goal is to arrive at solutions that benefit everyone involved.

Word of the Week (WOW):
This week’s word is “encouragement”.  It is a noun that means giving someone support, confidence or hope.  Partner with us in focusing on our campus WOW.  Ask your student to use the word in a sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our word.  Thanks for your participation!

STAAR-Ready Assessments:
This week we will administer STAAR-Ready assessments to our 3rd-5th grade students.  Our goal is to ensure that our students are prepared to perform at high levels of mastery on STAAR (the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness).  Administering STAAR-Ready assessments now will give us the data that we need to plan targeted instruction and intervention that meets the needs of each of our students.  Please partner with us at home by ensuring that your child is at school on time (always, but especially on testing days) and has a good night’s sleep before each assessment.  Thanks for your support!  The schedule for the week is:
Monday, January 14, 2019
4th Grade Writing & 5th Grade Science
Wednesday, January 16, 2019
3rd, 4th & 5th Grade Math
Thursday, January 17, 2019

I want to partner with you to make this happen.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any member of my team in support of your child’s education.  We are ALL here to support and encourage our students to BE BRAVE, CHOOSE KIND and LEAD ON!
