Week of 1.20.20
Hello Brave Community!
Happy Tuesday! During this time of year, I make it a point
to listen to and reflect upon the message in Dr. King’s inspirational “I Have
a Dream” speech. Heroic leaders, such as
Dr. King, inspire my thoughts, as well as my actions. It is my hope that my team and I provide a
teaching and learning experience that positively impacts and inspires each of
our BRAVE students!
As
a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly
Effective People each month. Our
habit of the month this month is Habit 4: Think
Win-Win! We teach our students how
to think of others when problem solving.
Our goal is to arrive at solutions that benefit everyone involved.
Word of the Week (WOW):
This week’s word is “INQUISITIVE”. It is an
adjective that means very curious. Partner with us in focusing on
our campus WOW. Ask your student to use the word in a sentence or
perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our
word. Thanks for your participation!
Science Fair:
We have been working hard to have a successful Science Fair. We appreciate our volunteers that will assist
us in the vital role of project judge. Science Fair is Thursday, January
23, 2020, 6:00-7:00 p.m. Special thanks to Ms. Amy Moore for coordinating
this event.
Especially for 5th Grade Parents…
Future Bulldogs Day:
Thursday, January 30th, 8:15 - 11:45
Hernandez Parent
Information Night: Thursday, February 13th, 6:00 - 7:00 PM, Cafeteria
Distinction:
I am very proud to
share our latest distinction. Double
File Trail has earned the distinction of a 2019 Leader in Me Lighthouse Academic Honor Roll School! To earn this
recognition, we maintained our Lighthouse School Certification and showed
exemplary academic growth (measure by our state accountability standards). Our percentile ranking rose from 65.7% in
2018 to 82.7% in 2019! It is an honor to
work with such amazing teachers and students!
Climate Survey:
We are looking
forward to receiving feedback from you.
Please complete our family climate survey. Thanks!

can’t walk, then crawl, but by all means, keep moving.” Martin Luther King, Jr.
My Belief:
I consider it a
privilege and a blessing to serve the Double File Trail Elementary Community as
the principal. I believe in our students and their ability to
achieve excellence in education. I want to partner with you to make this
happen. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any member of my
team in support of your child’s education. We are ALL here to
support and encourage our students to BE BRAVE, CHOOSE KIND and LEAD ON!
