Week of 2.24.20
Hello Brave Community!
Happy Monday! This weekend, a very talented group of our students
participated in the Regional Science Fair.
The group was led by one of our 5th grade teachers, Ms. Amy
Moore. I am pleased to share that our Braves
represented Double File Trail well. We
had so many of our students achieve first, second or third place! Additionally, we had a student, Emmy Schultz,
earn a special award: The Health Innovation Award! I am beyond impressed and super proud of each
of our participants, and I am very appreciative of the time and commitment that
Ms. Moore poured into this event!
As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven
Habits of Highly Effective People each month. Our habit of the month this month is Habit 5:
Seek First to Understand, then to be
Understood! We teach our students
to listen to others and to try to understand the views and feelings of others,
even if they are different from their own.
Leadership Day on 3.6.20!:
I am so excited to announce that Leadership Day is coming! Student
leaders will lead a Pep Rally to celebrate the amazing energy and spirit we
share at Double File Trail Elementary. Before or after the Pep Rally, parents
will have the opportunity to visit their child's classroom to engage in a
Student-Led Conference where students share their goals and celebrations.
Visitors who do not have a child attending Double File Trail will have the
opportunity to go on a tour led by student leaders. If you would like to have
more information about Leadership Day, please contact Nikita Olguin at nikita_olguin@roundrockisd.org We look forward to seeing you on March 6th! Please use this link to RSVP.

Word of the Week (WOW):
This week’s word is “ONOMATOPOEIA”. It is a noun that
means the formation of a word from a sound associated with its name. A
couple of examples are “buzz” and “swish”. Partner with us in focusing on
our campus WOW. Ask your student to use the word in a sentence or
perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our
word. Thanks for your participation!
Student Transfers:
Round Rock ISD requires an In-District Transfer
application to be submitted each school year. Parents must have a Home Access
Center (HAC) account to request a
transfer for the 2020-2021 school year. All transfer

Quote of the Month:
“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively
and to think critically. Intelligence

My Belief:
I consider it a privilege and a blessing to serve the Double File
Trail Elementary Community as the principal. I believe in our
students and their ability to achieve excellence in education. I want to
partner with you to make this happen. Please don’t hesitate to reach
out to me or any member of my team in support of your child’s
education. We are ALL here to support and encourage our students to
BE BRAVE, CHOOSE KIND and LEAD ON!
