Brave Newsletter 5.18.20
Dear Brave Families,
I pray that this final
newsletter of the 2019-2020 school year finds you safe and well. It has
been the most different close of a school year that I have ever experienced! I
never fathomed that I would end my 20th school year this way - no little feet running in
the hallways, no wet shoe strings to tie, no class parties, no Field Day, and
no hugs! Although this is not the ending that we would have selected, we’ve
made it to the finish line TOGETHER! I will forever be GRATEFUL of the
time and energy our families have dedicated to at-home learning. Our
BRAVE families partnered with us like champs, and we appreciate it tons!
I am also thankful for AMAZING STAFF members that continue to be innovative and
flexible in their thinking and practices. They have done an impressive
job of maintaining teaching and learning during our weeks of at-home learning.
On Wednesday, 5.20.20, at
5:30 pm, we will celebrate our 5th Grade students’ milestone of completing
elementary and transitioning to middle school! We plan to line the
sidewalks of Chandler Creek (appropriately distanced) with signs, applause and
loud cheers. Our very thoughtful PTA members are decorating for this special
event. Cars participating in the parade will line up on Beckwood Trail and turn
right onto Chandler Creek Boulevard. You are welcome to join us as we cheer
along the sidewalk. Please be careful to keep an appropriate distance
between you and the next person/family. Thanks for this consideration!
For more information, email lisa_thompson@roundrockisd.org. You
may also get information here: https://www.smore.com/xaqs4
On Wednesday, before the
parade, from 4:00-5:00 pm, you are welcomed to pick up class pictures.
Daisy Ruiz will be near the front entrance of the school distributing class
pictures to families who paid in advance. Because our building is under
major construction, we are not able to safely access items inside. If
there is anything that your child left behind before leaving for Spring Break,
we ask that you allow us to return those belongings once construction of our
building is complete. Your patience and understanding is greatly
appreciated!
Electronic devices (such as
Chromebooks) and library books do not need to be returned at this time unless
you are moving out of Round Rock ISD. Instead, we ask that you hold on to
everything that has been checked out to you until the fall. Thanks so
much!
Hard copies of Report Cards
will not be mailed out at the end of this school year. Instead, for Pre-K-2nd
Grade families, expect to receive a report card via email later this
week. For 3rd-5th Grade families, you may access final grades via Home Access Center (HAC).
(If you
have not set up an account, here are instructions: Home Access Center Instruction Manual If you are not able to set up access or are
having problems, please contact Jenny Gonzalez, our DFT Registrar, at jenny_gonzalez@roundrockisd.org Here is a tutorial on how to
check your child's report card and other features in home access.)
Starting May 26, curbside
meal distribution sites in the Stony Point High School Learning Community will
be: Union Hill Elementary, 1511 Gulf Way, Round Rock and Stony Point High School, 1801 Tiger Trail, Round Rock
Curbside lunch and
breakfast for the following day will continue to be served to students under
the age of 18 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m on Monday through Friday. Weekend meals will
also be available for students to pick up during meal distribution each
Friday. Please continue to visit the Round
Rock ISD Food Services and
COVID-19 School Closure webpages for the
latest information and updates. We will also provide information on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
Lastly, we know
that change can be tough. We are here to support our families every step of
the way. You are welcome to contact me at alifia_britton@roundrockisd.org or Angela Page, our
Assistant Principal, at angela_page@roundrockisd.org if we can be of any
assistance to your family. Continue to visit
our Double File Trail Counselor Corner as needed. https://sites.google.com/roundrockisd.org/schoolcounselingatdft/video-lessons?authuser=0
Again, thank you for your
continued patience and flexibility during at-home learning. Thank you for
teaming with us to support our students. PLEASE continue to hug our BRAVES for
us, and tell them how much we LOVE and MISS them!
We cannot
wait to excitedly and lovingly welcome each of our BRAVE LEADERS back to
school! Stay healthy! Stay well! RRISD Strong! DFT Strong!
Grateful and hopeful,
Alifia Britton, Proud
Principal of Double File Trail Elementary
