Week of 4.29.19

Hello Brave Community!

Happy Tuesday!  I am so excited about all of the exceptional teaching and learning that is happening at Double File.  Yesterday we received our results from the first round of STAAR testing.  I am pleased to report that our students performed well.  We definitely exceeded the performance goal that we set at the beginning of the school year.  Congratulations to our 5th grade teachers and students.

As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each week.  Our habit of the week this week is Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind!   We teach and model for our students how to plan ahead and set goals.  We emphasize the importance of being prepared.

Word of the Week (WOW):
This week’s word is “resourceful”.  It is an adjective that means to be able to find clever ways to solve problems.  Partner with us in focusing on our campus WOW.  Ask your student to use the word in a sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our word.  Thanks for your participation!

Coffee with the Principal:
Please join me for my next Coffee and Conversation on Friday, May 3, 2019.  I am very much interested in getting to know you better, as well providing an opportunity for you to get to know me better.  We will begin immediately following announcements at 7:45 a.m.

From Nurse Debbie:
Please pick up the medication by the end of the school day on May 23, 2019.
No medication will be sent home with a student and no medication will be left in the nurse’s office over the summer.  If left, it will be disposed of properly

My Belief:
I consider it a privilege and a blessing to serve the Double File Trail Elementary Community as the principal.  I believe in our students and their ability to achieve excellence in education. I want to partner with you to make this happen.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any member of my team in support of your child’s education.  We are ALL here to support and encourage our students to BE BRAVE, CHOOSE KIND and LEAD ON!
