Hello Brave Community!   Happy Thursday evening! I hope that you have had a great week.   Please read my notes/news below.   W eather: Please encourage your child to dress appropriately for the weather. We want to keep each of our BRAVE students healthy so that they remain well and can participate in learning. Double File is a Title 1 School.   Read more for why this is SO important :  Title I schools are defined as campuses with a student population of at least 40 percent low-income (free and reduced meals).   This is important at Double File because being Title I means that w e receive federal funds for our campus .  The funds are used in the following ways: Resources and materials for school wide enrichment Staff salaries  A Parent Support Specialist Extra duty pay for staff (for additional planning and preparation or tutorials) Professional development   If your child typically receives free or reduced lunch (and you have not done so already), please

Brave Newsletter 10.21.20

  Hello Brave Community!   Happy Wednesday! I hope that you are all well and that all of our students, whether virtual or in-person, are engaged in an exceptional learning experience.    As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each month.  Our habit of the month this month is Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind!   We teach and model for our students how to plan ahead and set goals.  We emphasize the importance of being prepared. Word of the Week (WOW): This week’s word is “PERSEVERE”.  It is a verb that means to work very hard, especially when something is difficult.  Partner with us in focusing on our campus WOW.  Ask your student to use the word in a sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our word.  Thanks for your participation!   W eather: Over the next week, o ur Texas weather is slated to take an interesting turn.  We will likely experience sunny, warm, rainy and very cool weather – all
