Brave Newsletter 7.28.20

Hello Brave Community!
Happy Tuesday! I hope that this newsletter finds you safe and well! It is also my hope that, despite limitations due to COVID-19, you have discovered ways to Sharpen your Saw (Ask your son/daughter about Habit 7!) during the Summer Break with family and friends. Over the last month, I’ve carved out time to enjoy rereading a couple of favorite books, assemble puzzles with my youngest daughter, and simply sit on the back porch to enjoy the summer air. All in all, I feel refreshed and am ready to start this new (and different) 2020-2021 school year with all of you! Please see my notes and news below.
Staying Connected: The start of this school year will look differently than the start of any other school year. This week RRISD will be hosting two more Virtual Town Halls focusing on how on-campus learning will look. Today’s town hall will cover elementary schools and Thursday’s will cover middle and high school. Tonight’s Virtual Town Hall will be livestreamed on the

Brave Newsletter 5.18.20

Dear Brave Families,
I pray that this final newsletter of the 2019-2020 school year finds you safe and well.  It has been the most different close of a school year that I have ever experienced! I never fathomed that I would end my 20th school year this way - no little feet running in the hallways, no wet shoe strings to tie, no class parties, no Field Day, and no hugs! Although this is not the ending that we would have selected, we’ve made it to the finish line TOGETHER!  I will forever be GRATEFUL of the time and energy our families have dedicated to at-home learning.  Our BRAVE families partnered with us like champs, and we appreciate it tons!  I am also thankful for AMAZING STAFF members that continue to be innovative and flexible in their thinking and practices.  They have done an impressive job of maintaining teaching and learning during our weeks of at-home learning.
On Wednesday, 5.20.20, at 5:30 pm, we will celebrate our 5th Grade students’ milestone of completing elementary and…

I want to again address expectations and reality. There is no set pacing for the at-home learning. While we are providing a recommended schedule, feel free to space out the week's assignments in a way that works best for your family. We are asking for 1 student submission in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies each week. For more on the grading policy and expectations for this final nine weeks, click HERE.
Update:Initially our slide decks were slated to be released on Mondays at 8:00 am. Our district recently decided to release them on Sundays at noon so that families have the opportunity to preview the week’s activities in advance and make a plan.I hope that this is helpful and beneficial.
