Brave News 3.22.24

Hello Brave Community!  Happy Friday! Today was an amazing day filled with tons of teaching and learning. We ended our day with the excitement of Brave Hour!  Students were gardening, creating visual art, planning a stage play, playing checkers/chess and so much more. During Brave Hour every student must have a purpose. Consider asking your student how he or she spent Brave Hour, and more specifically what his or her purpose was today. I think you might be pleasantly surprised with the response you receive from your BRAVE leader.  As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each month.  Our habit of the month for March is Habit 6: Synergize!   We teach our students the importance and benefit of teamwork.   Hello Brave Community!  Happy Tuesday! I hope that you all had a delightful and restful Thanksgiving Break! I enjoyed time with my family, as well as some really tasty food! I am also enjoying the cooler weather. On that note, please accept my reminder to send your child to school each day that it is cold or even cool outside with a coat or jacket.  If your child does not own a coat or a jacket and you need our help providing one, please contact our lead counselor at clarissa_hollenshead@roundrockisd.org. Hello Brave Community! Happy Thursday! We are off to an amazing school year!  Thanks for all that you’ve already done to help us have a smooth start to the 2023-2024 School year! We appreciate you tons! In this newsletter, I’ve included a couple of ways that you can get involved at Double File Trail and/or volunteer. It is important to us that you feel welcome and a part of our school community! As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each month.  Our habit of the month is Habit 1: Be Proactive !   We teach and model for our students a “can do” attitude.  We emphasize that each student is in charge of themselves.  We remind them that they chose their actions in advance, as well as their attitude and mood. New Arrival Procedure Begins Tomorrow!

  Hello Brave Community!  Happy Wednesday evening! We are off to an amazing school year!  Thanks for your patience and support as we launched this new school year!  For the first two days of the school year we were happy to offer our families the opportunity to walk students to class to meet the teacher and observe the new learning environment. Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, 8/17, we will shift to our more permanent arrival procedures. All students will continue to enter through the main entrance Students opting to eat breakfast at school will go directly to the the cafeteria (except for PK; they will go to the library and be escorted to class at 7:25, and then have breakfast at 7:45 with their teachers) PK-2nd Grade students not eating breakfast will go directly to the library 7:10-7:25 3rd-5th Grade students not eating breakfast will go directly to the gym 7:10-7:25 All students will will be released to head to class at 7:25 (PK & Kinder will be escorted by staff The cafe

Hello Brave Community!  Happy Wednesday! We hope that you are enjoying the final days of Summer Break! We are so excited about this upcoming school year and look forward to seeing you at our “Meet the Teacher” event this Friday, 8/11/23, 3p-5p.   Skip the Line: Parents, you can skip the line in the cafeteria at “Meet the Teacher” by completing this  How is your child getting home? form. If you choose to complete the form in advance, you will not know the teacher’s name yet, so simply enter “Clark”.  Thanks! School starts 5 minutes earlier:   This school year elementary will start the school day at 7:35am. That is 5 minutes earlier than in previous years.  Our doors will continue to open at 7:10 each morning so that students have plenty of time to get breakfast (if needed) and be in class ready to learn by 7:35a.  Thanks in advance for getting our BRAVE leaders to school on time each day! Hello and Happy Summer! I hope that you are enjoying your Summer! Please see my notes/news below.   Summer Hours:  Today our office closes at 5:00.  We will reopen on Monday, 7/10, with a Summer Schedule of Monday-Thursday, 8:00-5:00.  Summer Photos:  Please snap and save a summer photo. I will ask for them later in the summer to be included in a BOY slideshow for students to view during their lunches. Looking Ahead: Monday, 7/10: Double File Trail front office opens for the 2023-2024 School Year Monday, 7/17: Our registrar returns for the 2023-2024 School Year Friday, 8/11: Meet the Teacher, 3:00-5:00 pm Tuesday, 8/15: First day of school!
