Week of 9.23.19

Hello Brave Community!   Happy Monday! This week marks the beginning of a new season; Happy Autumn!   I am seriously looking forward to cooler weather.   Cooler weather will provide more enjoyable recess periods and brain breaks from the exceptional teaching and learning experiences that our amazing teachers are providing for all of our BRAVE students! As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each week.   Our habit of the week this week is Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw !    We teach our students the importance of having balance.   We encourage them to take care of themselves by eating right, exercising and getting enough sleep. Brave Hour!: This is our Double File Trail spin on Genius Hour.   On Fridays, we follow our Brave Hour Schedule.   Basically, we start our regular school day activities an hour later so that our students have the opportunity to learn through discovery.   Students select their Brave Hour engagement from

Hello Brave Community!    Happy Tuesday!   We are off to such an amazing start of school!   Our students have settled into their classrooms.   During classroom visits, I can’t help but to notice high levels of authentic engagement. Our teachers are providing an exceptional teaching and learning experience for all of our BRAVE students! As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each week.   Our habit of the week this week is Habit 6: Synergize !    We teach our students the value of working together with others.   We provide opportunities for teamwork among students because we know that they can get more done when working with a group than working alone. Word of the Week (WOW): This week’s word is “sedulous”.   It is an adjective that means to hard working.   Partner with us in focusing on our campus WOW.   Ask your student to use the word in a sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our word.   Th

Hello Brave Community!   I hope that you enjoyed your weekend and had the opportunity to do something that you enjoy.  I was able to spend some time with my family and get lots of rest.  While resting on Saturday, I reflected on how amazing it is to be the principal at DFT!  It is a genuine feeling of pride.  I am pleased to be part of a hard working staff that provides an exceptional teaching and learning experience for all of our BRAVE students. As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each week.  Our habit of the week this week is Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood !   We teach our students to listen to others and to try to understand the views and feelings of others, even if they are different from their own. Hello Brave Community!   I hope that you enjoyed your Labor Day!   I did; I was able to get some much needed rest and relaxation.    There are such amazing things happening each day at Double File Trail!   I get excited when I walk the building; there is authentic student engagement all over the building!   I am pleased that we are providing an exceptional teaching and learning experience for all of our BRAVE students. As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each week.   Our habit of the week this week is Habit 4: Think Win-Win !    We teach our students how to think of others when problem solving.   Our goal is to arrive at solutions that benefit everyone involved. Word of the Week (WOW): This week’s word is “saunter”.   It is a verb that means to walk slowly.   Partner with us in focusing on our campus WOW.   Ask your student to use the word in a sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our word.
