Brave News 10.29.20

Hello Brave Community!

Happy Thursday evening! I hope that you have had a great week.  Please read my notes/news below.

Weather:

Please encourage your child to dress appropriately for the weather. We want to keep each of our BRAVE students healthy so that they remain well and can participate in learning.

Double File is a Title 1 School.  Read more for why this is SO important

Title I schools are defined as campuses with a student population of at least 40 percent low-income (free and reduced meals).  This is important at Double File because being Title I means that we receive federal funds for our campus.  The funds are used in the following ways:

Resources and materials for school wide enrichment

Staff salaries

A Parent Support Specialist

Extra duty pay for staff (for additional planning and preparation or tutorials)

Professional development

If your child typically receives free or reduced lunch (and you have not done so already), please apply for free and reduced breakfast and lunch meals here. It only takes about 5 minutes, and it’s completely confidential. Please complete the application even if your child is currently a virtual learner.  Thanks so much for helping us to continue to secure this much needed funding source!

Thanksgiving Meal Request:

First United Methodist Church – Round Rock is sponsoring a Thanksgiving Basket Food Program. The youth of the church would like to deliver a turkey dinner and all of the trimmings to you for Thanksgiving. The church has asked our school to furnish names and addresses of families who would like to receive a basket. If you would like a basket, please contact one of our counselors at mailto:mae.grant@roundrockisd.org or mailto:ryann_stalwick@roundrockisd.org

United Methodist Church members who will be delivering the food baskets. The members will deliver the baskets on Tuesday, November 17 between 6-8 p.m. The delivery will be contactless, so please make sure someone will be available at home to receive the basket during that time.
