Hello Brave Community! Happy Thursday! We are off to an amazing school year!  Thanks for all that you’ve already done to help us have a smooth start to the 2023-2024 School year! We appreciate you tons! In this newsletter, I’ve included a couple of ways that you can get involved at Double File Trail and/or volunteer. It is important to us that you feel welcome and a part of our school community!

As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each month.  Our habit of the month is Habit 1: Be Proactive!   We teach and model for our students a “can do” attitude.  We emphasize that each student is in charge of themselves.  We remind them that they chose their actions in advance, as well as their attitude and mood.

Word of the Week (WOW): Each week we have a word of the week. Our first word of the week is “DIRE”.  It is an adjective that means very serious or urgent.  Ask your student to use the word in a sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our word.  Thanks for your participation!

Community Involvement: Are you interested in becoming more involved at Double File Trail? We are looking for individuals willing to help our students meet our reading goals. We've partnered with Education Connection, a literacy program that connects our school and the community by getting books into students' hands and fostering a love of reading! If you are interested in reading weekly with students (30 minutes/week), please visit www.education-connection.org for more information and to sign-up!

Kind Words: Lately we’ve had quite a few reports of students using unkind words towards one another.  Therefore, over the next few weeks, we will be focusing on the use of kind words during morning broadcasts, in guidance lessons with our counselors, and in common areas.  Please partner with us by reinforcing the use of kind words at home.  Thanks!

Lunch Information: Food Services sets up lunch accounts for all enrolled students using their student ID. Parents, you do not need to set them up. If you are interested in applying for free or reduced lunch, please visit Free and Reduced Meals

If you want to manage your student's account balance, please visit MySchoolBucks
