Week of 8/20/18

Hello Brave Community!   We are off to an amazing start of the 2018-2019 school year, and I am so excited about all of the greatness that we will achieve this year!  Our goal is to provide an exceptional teaching and learning experience for all of our BRAVE students.

Arrival and Dismissal:
Our doors open each morning at 7:10 a.m.  This is when we begin welcoming students into the building to either enjoy breakfast or head directly to their grade level hallway.  Students are expected to sit in the hallway outside of their classroom and use appropriate hallway voice levels.  Many mornings our students who arrive prior to 7:30 a.m. will be able to go into the classrooms to engage in morning learning activities or simply read quietly.
Our school day officially begins at 7:40 a.m.  Students are considered tardy if they enter the building after 7:45 a.m.  Please help maximize your child’s learning experience by getting him/her to school on time.  Thanks!

Our school day ends at 2:55 p.m.  Please continue to be patient with us these first weeks of school during dismissal.  Our main objectives during dismissal is to keep students safe and get them back home.  At the beginning of the school year this simply takes longer.  Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.

Bus Lane:
Please do not park in the bus lane or on the street to the right of the bus lane.  Our bus drivers are reporting some difficulty turning right as they exit the lane.  Thanks!

Coffee and Conversation:
Please join me for my first Coffee and Conversation with parents on Friday, September 7, 2018.  I am very much interested in getting to know you, as well providing an opportunity for you to get to know me.  We will begin immediately following announcements at 7:45 a.m.

My Belief:
I consider it a privilege and a blessing to serve the Double File Trail Elementary Community as the principal.  I believe in our students and their ability to achieve excellence in education. I want to partner with you to make this happen.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any member of my team in support of your child’s education.  We are ALL here to support and encourage our students to BE BRAVE, CHOOSE KIND and LEAD ON!

Hello Brave Community!  Happy Friday! Today was an amazing day filled with tons of teaching and learning. We ended our day with the excitement of Brave Hour!  Students were gardening, creating visual art, planning a stage play, playing checkers/chess and so much more. New Arrival Procedure Begins Tomorrow!

  Hello Brave Community!  Happy Wednesday evening! We are off to an amazing school year!  Thanks for your patience and support as we launched this new school year!  For the first two days of the school year we were happy to offer our families the opportunity to walk students to class to meet the teacher and observe the new learning environment. Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, 8/17, we will shift to our more permanent arrival procedures. All students will continue to enter through the main entrance Students opting to eat breakfast at school will go directly to the the cafeteria (except for PK; they will go to the library and be escorted to class at 7:25, and then have breakfast at 7:45 with their teachers) PK-2nd Grade students not eating breakfast will go directly to the library 7:10-7:25 3rd-5th Grade students not eating breakfast will go directly to the gym 7:10-7:25 All students will will be released to head to class at 7:25 (PK & Kinder will be escorted by staff The cafe

  Hello Brave Community!  Happy Tuesday! I hope that you all had a delightful and restful Thanksgiving Break! I enjoyed time with my family, as well as some really tasty food! I am also enjoying the cooler weather. On that note, please accept my reminder to send your child to school each day that it is cold or even cool outside with a coat or jacket.  If your child does not own a coat or a jacket and you need our help providing one, please contact our lead counselor at clarissa_hollenshead@roundrockisd.org.
