Week of 8/27/18

Hello Brave Community!  I hope that you have had a fulfilling week.  I definitely have.  There are such amazing things happening each day at Double File Trail!  Our teachers continue to do an exceptional job of planning authentically engaging activities for our student.  Our goal is to provide an exceptional teaching and learning experience for all of our Brave students.

Back to School Night:
Please join us on Thursday, September 6, 2018 for Back to School Night.  We will provide essential information that will help ensure a successful year.  There will be two sessions for families with more than one student enrolled at DFT; this should allow families to fully attend two sessions without missing parts of team/teacher presentations.  Between the two sessions there will be a brief message from me, as well as a couple of introductions.  The schedule we will follow is:
Session I: 6:15-6:45 p.m.
Message from Principal Britton: 6:50-7:00 p.m. in the Cafeteria
Session II: 7:00-7:30 p.m.

School Report Card/Distinction:
Our school report card is out.  To view it click here.  While there is always room for improvement, we did well.  As a matter of fact, we earned our first distinction from the Texas Education Agency (TEA)!  We earned our distinction for being in the Top 25% of our comparison group in Academic Growth.  This is a huge honor!

Coffee and Conversation:
Please join me for my first Coffee and Conversation with parents on Friday, September 7, 2018.  I am very much interested in getting to know you, as well providing an opportunity for you to get to know me.  We will begin immediately following announcements at 7:45 a.m.

Site-Based Advisory Committee:
We have established our SBAC but will gladly welcome additional members.  This committee is comprised of administrators, teachers, parents, community members and business members.  We meet four times each year with a goal of continuous school improvement.  In our meetings, we discuss the Campus Improvement Plan (CIP), campus initiatives and any other focus areas for the school year.  Our first meeting is September 24, 2018.

Bond 2018 Project Information:
Detailed information about the Bond proposal which will be on the November 6, 2018 ballot is now available on our District website at bond.roundrockisd.org.

My Belief:
I consider it a privilege and a blessing to serve the Double File Trail Elementary Community as the principal.  I believe in our students and their ability to achieve excellence in education. I want to partner with you to make this happen.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any member of my team in support of your child’s education.  We are ALL here to support and encourage our students to BE BRAVE, CHOOSE KIND and LEAD ON!

Hello Brave Community!  Happy Friday! Today was an amazing day filled with tons of teaching and learning. We ended our day with the excitement of Brave Hour!  Students were gardening, creating visual art, planning a stage play, playing checkers/chess and so much more. New Arrival Procedure Begins Tomorrow!

  Hello Brave Community!  Happy Wednesday evening! We are off to an amazing school year!  Thanks for your patience and support as we launched this new school year!  For the first two days of the school year we were happy to offer our families the opportunity to walk students to class to meet the teacher and observe the new learning environment. Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, 8/17, we will shift to our more permanent arrival procedures. All students will continue to enter through the main entrance Students opting to eat breakfast at school will go directly to the the cafeteria (except for PK; they will go to the library and be escorted to class at 7:25, and then have breakfast at 7:45 with their teachers) PK-2nd Grade students not eating breakfast will go directly to the library 7:10-7:25 3rd-5th Grade students not eating breakfast will go directly to the gym 7:10-7:25 All students will will be released to head to class at 7:25 (PK & Kinder will be escorted by staff The cafe

  Hello Brave Community!  Happy Tuesday! I hope that you all had a delightful and restful Thanksgiving Break! I enjoyed time with my family, as well as some really tasty food! I am also enjoying the cooler weather. On that note, please accept my reminder to send your child to school each day that it is cold or even cool outside with a coat or jacket.  If your child does not own a coat or a jacket and you need our help providing one, please contact our lead counselor at clarissa_hollenshead@roundrockisd.org.
