Week of 10/8/18
Hello Brave Community!
Happy Monday! Today is parent-teacher conference day. I hope that all of our parents and guardians make time to
visit with their child’s teacher (even if by phone) to discuss student
achievement and the amazing teaching and learning experience that is being
provided for each of our BRAVE students!
As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven
Habits of Highly Effective People each week. Our habit of the week this week is Habit 4: Think Win-Win! We teach our students how to think of others
when problem solving. Our goal is to
arrive at solutions that benefit everyone involved.
Word of the Week
(WOW):
This week’s word is “HEROIC”. It is an adjective that means very brave. Partner with us in focusing on our campus
WOW. Ask your student to use the word in
a sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our word. Thanks for your participation!
Bond Information
Meeting:
Our PTA has elected to have a meeting
at our campus to learn more about the RRISD Bond Proposal. The entire community is invited to attend on
Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. If you are unable to attend the meeting, detailed information about the Bond
proposal (which will be on the November 6, 2018 ballot)
is now available on our district website at bond.roundrockisd.org.
7 Habits Family
Training:
We are partnering with Teravista
Elementary and Blackland Prairie Elementary to bring 7 Habits Family
Training. The training is based on
Stephen Covey’s bestsellers The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and The
7 habits of Highly Effective Families.
This family event will be held at Teravista Elementary on Saturday,
October 27, 2018, 8:00-4:00. Lunch will
be provided for all who register. Click here
to register.
STEAM Fair Judges:
Double File Trail Elementary is working hard to have a successful
STEAM Fair. We need volunteers to assist
us in the vital role of project judge. You do not need to be a science
expert to participate as a STEAM Fair judge.
We will provide a rubric that expressly describes what each project type
should include. The amount of time we are asking for you to contribute is
2 hours. If you can give more, it is
appreciated.
STEAM Fair is January 24, 2019. If you are interested in
becoming a judge, email amy_moore @roundrockisd.org by December 19, 2018.
Red Ribbon Week:
Red Ribbon Week is a drug
and violence prevention campaign. We
will celebrate Red Ribbon Week during the week of 10/22. There is a theme each day. Please allow and encourage your child to
participate as we raise awareness and teach our students to be brave, kind
leaders.
