Week of 2.25.19
Hello Brave Community!
Happy Monday! There is so much positive energy in the
air. I am excited to share that Friday
is Leadership Day! We will showcase for
our families and community how we integrate the 7 Habits of Happy Kids into our school
culture.
Student leaders will lead a Pep Rally to
celebrate the amazing energy and spirit we share at Double File Trail
Elementary. Before or after the Pep Rally, parents will have the opportunity to
visit their child's classroom to engage in a Student-Led Conference where
students share their goals and celebrations. Visitors who do not have a child
attending Double File Trail will have the opportunity to go on a tour led by
student leaders. If you would like to have more information about
Leadership Day, please contact Nikita Olguin at nikita_olguin@roundrockisd.org We look forward to seeing you on March 1st! Please RSVP for the event HERE. Our schedule for Leadership Day is below.

As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each week. Our habit of the week this week is Habit 1: Be Proactive! We teach and model for our students a “can do” attitude. We emphasize that each student is in charge of themselves. We remind them that they choose their actions, as well as their moods.
Word of the Week (WOW):
This week’s word is “cheerful”. It
is an adjective that means noticeably happy. Partner with us in
focusing on our campus WOW. Ask your student to use the word in a
sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our
word. Thanks for your participation!
From Coach Curtis
and Coach K:
Marathon Kids & Families,
The PE coaches are checking in to see how everyone is doing on
their Marathon Kids mileage and fuel logs. Keep the end in mind as you continue
your Marathon Kids program. Your goal is to finish up to 4 marathons during the
school year. That is a total of 104.8 miles. We have had over 40 students
complete their 1st marathon. Four students have finished all four
marathons. Turn in your logs as soon as you complete each marathon to receive
your awards. The final awards for the 4th marathon will be ordered at the end
of April when the program will come to an end for the school year.
Go Braves! Keep on running!
KONA Ice:
We will have our first Kona
Ice day on Friday, March 1st.
Look for the Kona Ice truck at
dismissal. It is scheduled to be parked
on the side of the building on the basketball court. Support our school by purchasing a cool
treat. It’s a WIN-WIN!
Bond Information:
You can stay informed on the latest news regarding Bond 2018
projects on the District’s Bond Website.
Library Nights:
Join us in the library most Tuesdays, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. for a
Read Aloud and an activity. The next few Library Nights are scheduled
for 2/26, 3/5, 3/12, 3/26 and 4/2. We hope to see you there!
AFSP Campus Walk:
The School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is
excited to host the Second Annual AFSP Campus
Walk to bring
awareness to mental health and suicide prevention. Last year the Student
Advisory Board hosted the walk and over 200 people walked to raise $7,000. The
money that was received was reinvested back into the district to provide
training and resources for over 1000 educators, parents, and
students. We would love to see even more students
and staff participant this year. Our theme is "anyone can be a
superhero" and participants are encouraged to dress up!

Trail Elementary Community as the principal. I believe in our students
and their ability to achieve excellence in education. I want to partner with
you to make this happen. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or
any member of my team in support of your child’s education. We are
ALL here to support and encourage our students to BE BRAVE, CHOOSE KIND and
LEAD ON!
