Week of 2.4.19


Hello Brave Community! 

Happy Monday!  This school year is moving right along.  It’s already February!  We have a full week ahead of us, including a 5th grade visit to Hernandez Middle School on Tuesday and a third grade performance Thursday evening.  I am thrilled to be on this DFT team providing a teaching and learning experience that positively impacts and inspires each of our BRAVE students!

As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each week.  Our habit of the week this week is Habit 6: Synergize!   We teach our students the value of working together with others.  We provide opportunities for teamwork among students because we know that they can get more done when working with a group than working alone.

Word of the Week (WOW):
This week’s word is “ambitious”.  It is an adjective that means showing a strong desire to succeed.  Partner with us in focusing on our campus WOW.  Ask your student to use the word in a sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our word.  Thanks for your participation!

Pet Clinic:
Double File Trail Elementary will host a pet clinic on February 20, 2019, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Library Nights:
Join us in the library most Tuesdays, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. for a Read Aloud and an activity.  The next few Library Nights are scheduled for 2/5, 2/12, 2/26, 3/5, 3/12 and 3/26.  We hope to see you there!

I consider it a privilege and a blessing to serve the Double File Trail Elementary Community as the principal.  I believe in our students and their ability to achieve excellence in education. Hello Brave Community!  Happy Friday! Today was an amazing day filled with tons of teaching and learning. We ended our day with the excitement of Brave Hour!  Students were gardening, creating visual art, planning a stage play, playing checkers/chess and so much more. New Arrival Procedure Begins Tomorrow!

  Hello Brave Community!  Happy Wednesday evening! We are off to an amazing school year!  Thanks for your patience and support as we launched this new school year!  For the first two days of the school year we were happy to offer our families the opportunity to walk students to class to meet the teacher and observe the new learning environment. Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, 8/17, we will shift to our more permanent arrival procedures. All students will continue to enter through the main entrance Students opting to eat breakfast at school will go directly to the the cafeteria (except for PK; they will go to the library and be escorted to class at 7:25, and then have breakfast at 7:45 with their teachers) PK-2nd Grade students not eating breakfast will go directly to the library 7:10-7:25 3rd-5th Grade students not eating breakfast will go directly to the gym 7:10-7:25 All students will will be released to head to class at 7:25 (PK & Kinder will be escorted by staff The cafe

  Hello Brave Community!  Happy Tuesday! I hope that you all had a delightful and restful Thanksgiving Break! I enjoyed time with my family, as well as some really tasty food! I am also enjoying the cooler weather. On that note, please accept my reminder to send your child to school each day that it is cold or even cool outside with a coat or jacket.  If your child does not own a coat or a jacket and you need our help providing one, please contact our lead counselor at clarissa_hollenshead@roundrockisd.org.
