Week of 3.4.19
Hello Brave Community!
Happy Monday! Leadership Day was AWESOME! Our students did a phenomenal job displaying
their leadership skills for their families and our community. They clearly articulated how we integrate the 7 Habits of
Happy Kids into our school culture. Special thanks to our superintendent of schools,
Dr. Flores, and Mayor Morgan for attending as two of our special guests.
As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven
Habits of Highly Effective People each week. Our habit of the week this week is Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind! We
teach and model for our students how to plan ahead and set goals. We emphasize the importance of being
prepared.
Word of the Week (WOW):
This week’s word is “effort”. It
is a noun that means trying to do something well. Partner with us in
focusing on our campus WOW. Ask your student to use the word in a
sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our
word. Thanks for your participation!
KONA Ice:
KONA Ice was a hit! We will have our next Kona
Ice day on Thursday, April 4th.
Expect the Kona Ice truck to be parked on the side of the building on
the basketball court again. Thanks for supporting
our school by purchasing a cool treat.
It’s a WIN-WIN!
Library Nights:
Join us in the library most Tuesdays, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. for a
Read Aloud and an activity. The next few Library Nights are scheduled
for 3/5, 3/12, 3/26 and 4/2. We hope to see you there!
AFSP Campus Walk:
The School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is
excited to host the Second Annual AFSP Campus
Walk to bring
awareness to mental health and suicide prevention. Last year the Student
Advisory Board hosted the walk and over 200 people walked to raise $7,000. The
money that was received was reinvested back into the district to provide
training and resources for over 1000 educators, parents, and
students. We would love to see even more students
and staff participant this year. Our theme is "anyone can be a
superhero" and participants are encouraged to dress up!
