Week of 9.3.19
Hello Brave Community!
I hope that you enjoyed your Labor Day!
I did; I was able to get some much needed rest and relaxation.
There are such amazing things happening each
day at Double File Trail! I get excited
when I walk the building; there is authentic student engagement all over the building! I am pleased that we are providing
an exceptional teaching and learning experience for all of our BRAVE students.
As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven
Habits of Highly Effective People each week. Our habit of the week this week is Habit 4: Think Win-Win! We teach our students how to think of others
when problem solving. Our goal is to
arrive at solutions that benefit everyone involved.
Word of the Week
(WOW):
This week’s word is “saunter”. It is a verb that means to walk slowly. Partner with us in focusing on our campus
WOW. Ask your student to use the word in
a sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our
word. Thanks for your participation!
Back to School Night:
We had an amazing turn out last
Thursday at Back to School Night! Thanks
to all of the families that were able to attend. It was great meeting you. I look forward to getting to know you
better. If you were not able to attend,
I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher to receive the information
that was shared.
PTA Membership
Social:
Our PTA will hold its Membership Social
on Thursday, 9/19. Our PTA does so much
for school. Please plan to attend the
social and join. I will be there and I
hope that you will attend as well.
Library Nights:
Library Nights are back! Join us in the library most Tuesdays, from
6:00-7:00 p.m. for a Read Aloud and an activity. The next few Library Nights are scheduled for
9/10 and 9/24.
Watch DOGS:
Please consider becoming a member of
our Watch DOGS (Dads of Great Students).
Our students and teachers LOVE having Watch Dogs on campus! For more information, contact Rebel Paulk

School Report
Card/Distinction: (repeat from last week)
Our school report card is out. To view it, click here.
While there is always room for improvement, we did well. As a matter of fact, we earned two
distinctions from the Texas Education Agency (TEA)! We earned one distinction for Postsecondary
Readiness and the other for Academic Achievement in Language Arts/Reading. This is a huge honor!
Site-Based Advisory
Committee: (repeat from last week)
This committee is comprised of
administrators, teachers, parents, community members and business members. We meet four times each year with a goal of
continuous school improvement. In our
meetings, we discuss the Campus Improvement Plan (CIP), campus initiatives and
any other focus areas for the school year.
Our first meeting is September 30, 2019.
Looking Ahead:
Thursday, 9/5: KONA Ice Day!
Friday, 9/6: Coffee and Conversation with
the Principal!
Friday, 9/6: Grandparents’ Day!
Monday, 9/30: Site-Based Committee Meeting
Wednesday, 10/2: Chuck-E-Cheese Night!
Monday, 10/14: Student Holiday! Parent-Teacher Conferences!
Tuesday, 10/15: Student Holiday!
Quote of the Month:
“To tend, unfailingly, unflinchingly,
towards a goal, is the secret of success.”
Anna Pavlova
My Belief:
I consider it a privilege and a
blessing to serve the Double File Trail Elementary Community as the
principal. I believe in our students and
their ability to achieve excellence in education. I want to partner with you to
make this happen. Please don’t hesitate
to reach out to me or any member of my team in support of your child’s
education. We are ALL here to support
and encourage our students to BE BRAVE, CHOOSE KIND and LEAD ON!
