Week of 10.7.19
Hello Brave Community!
Happy Monday! We are one week away from parent-teacher
conference day. I hope that all of our
parents and guardians make time to visit with their child’s teacher (even if by
phone) to discuss student achievement and the amazing teaching and learning
experience that is being provided for each of our BRAVE students!
As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven
Habits of Highly Effective People each month. Our habit of the month for October is Habit 1:
Be Proactive! We teach and model for our students a “can
do” attitude. We emphasize that each
student is in charge of themselves. We
remind them that they chose their actions, as well as their moods.
Word of the Week
(WOW):
This week’s word is “SYNCHRONIZE”. It is a verb that means to make things happen
at the same time. Partner with us in
focusing on our campus WOW. Ask your
student to use the word in a sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional
in your use of our word. Thanks for your
participation!
Pet Clinic:
Take advantage of our Fall Pet Clinic;
it is scheduled for Monday, October 21, 2019.
The hours are 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Brave Family Fun
Night!
Save the date for our first ever Brave
Family Fun Night! The event will be on
Tuesday, November 19, 2019, 5:00-6:30.
We will have amazing Math and Literacy activities that are directly
connected to our Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. AND, our Book Fair will be open that
evening! Please plan to attend!
STEAM Fair Judges:
We need volunteers to
assist us in the vital role of project judge. You do not need to be a
science expert to participate as a Science Fair judge. We will provide a rubric that expressly
describes what each project type should include. The amount of time we
are asking for you to contribute is 2 hours.
If you can give more, it is appreciated. Science Fair is January 23,
2020. If you are interested in becoming a judge, email amy_moore@roundrockisd.org
by December 19, 2019.
Looking Ahead:
Upcoming Library Nights: 10/8, 10/22,
11/5, 12/3 & 12/17

My Belief:
I consider it a privilege and a
blessing to serve the Double File Trail Elementary Community as the
principal. I believe in our students and
their ability to achieve excellence in education. I want to partner with you to
make this happen. Please don’t hesitate
to reach out to me or any member of my team in support of your child’s
education. We are ALL here to support
and encourage our students to BE BRAVE, CHOOSE KIND and LEAD ON!
