Week of 11.5.19

Hello Brave Community!

Happy Tuesday!  We are quickly approaching our Thanksgiving Break.  There are only thirteen school days left (Yes, I am counting down!) before we all get some much need time for rest and rejuvenation.  In the meantime, we will continue to engage each of our BRAVE students in an amazing teaching and learning experience here at DFT!

As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each week.  Our habit of the month this month is Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind!   We teach and model for our students how to plan ahead and set goals.  We emphasize the importance of being prepared.

Word of the Week (WOW):
This week’s word is “CACOPHONY”.  It is a noun that means lots of noises at the same time.  Partner with us in focusing on our campus WOW.  Ask your student to use the word in a sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our word.  Thanks for your participation!

Veteran’s Day Assemblies:
Join us as we recognize and honor our heroes during our Veterans Day Assemblies.  They will take place on Monday, 11/11, 1:00-1:30 for Pre-Kinder-2nd grade and 1:45-2:15 for 3rd-5th grade.  On Thursday evening (11/7), we will have a short PTA meeting followed by a 5th grade performance to honor our veterans.

UIL at DFT:
Visit our UIL webpage for important information about participation.

Brave Family Fun Night!
Save the date for our second annual Brave Family Fun Night!  The event will be on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, 5:00-6:30.  We will have amazing Math and Literacy activities that are directly connected to our Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.  AND, our Book Fair will be open that evening!  Please plan to attend!

My Belief:
I consider it a privilege and a blessing to serve the Double File Trail Elementary Community as the principal.  I believe in our students and their ability to achieve excellence in education. I want to partner with you to make this happen.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any member of my team in support of your child’s education.  We are ALL here to support and encourage our students to BE BRAVE, CHOOSE KIND and LEAD ON!
