Brave News 8.12.20
Hello Brave Community!
Happy Wednesday! I hope that all of you are staying cool and doing well! It has been a busy week; we are hard at work crafting plans and creating virtually learning spaces. We will definitely be ready on August 20th to launch an AMAZING 2020-2021 school year! Please see my notes and news below.
Double File Trail Building Update:
Construction on our beautiful building is complete! We are so excited to be back in the building!
The office staff and admin team moved back into the front office yesterday and
the teachers will start setting up classrooms tomorrow. We are on a tight timeline, but we are up for
the challenge!
Supply Return/Library Book Return:
Now that we are back in our building, we are able to return personal
items that your child left behind before leaving for Spring Break in
March. On Wednesday, August 19th,
we will follow the schedule below.
PK & K (from the previous year): 8:00
First Grade (from the previous year): 9:00
Second Grade (from the previous year): 10:00
Third Grade (from the previous year): 1:00
Fourth Grade (from the previous year): 2:00
Fifth Grade (from the previous year): 3:00
The contactless return of supplies will take place in the bus loop
on the east side of Double File Trail. When
you enter the bus loop, please pull up to the nearest orange cone. To expedite the process, please clearly write
your child’s full name and the name of his/her teacher from last school year on
an 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper and display it in the windshield on the passenger
side of your vehicle. We will locate your child’s items and gladly place them
in the trunk or an empty back seat.
Please plan to return
library books on this day as well. We will have a special bin in the bus loop to
collect them.
Device Distribution:
We will distribute technology on Monday, 8/17 to families who indicated a
need on the parent choice form. Our distribution times are 11:00am
- 1:00pm and 4:00pm – 6:00pm. If you did not complete the form, but need a
device, it is not too late to do so. However, there might be a delay in filling
your request. Never the less, you must complete the form in order to receive a
device.
Meet the Teacher:
Teachers will host a Virtual Meet the teacher on Tuesday, 8/18,
4:00-6:00pm! Your classroom teacher will reach out to you on Monday, 8/17, with
information on how to participate. During
Meet the Teacher, you will be introduced to the other teachers on the grade
level team, be provided an overview of the daily schedule (including how to get
started on the first day), and learn how to receive support throughout the
school day engaging your child in virtual learning. A couple of weeks after school starts, tentatively
on Thursday, 9/3, we will host Open House.
During Open House, we will share much more information and a variety of
resources. But for now, we really want kids
to meet their teacher and get excited about attending school virtually.
Curbside Meal Service:
This
service will begin August. 20th for Round Rock ISD
students, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
For meal service during the first three weeks of
school, families are asked to fill out an online meal order form by August 17th. Only one response is needed per family
and multiple children can be added to one form. Parents who do not fill out the
form for their student may still pick up meals; be prepared to show the
student’s ID or a document/report card with the student’s ID printed.
Our nearest meal distribution sites are Stony Point High School, 1801 Tiger
Trail, Round Rock: (staff
parking lot) and Double File Trail Elementary
School, 2400 Chandler Creek Blvd., Round Rock: (front of
the school).
You can apply for
free and reduced breakfast and lunch meals here. It only takes about 5 minutes, and it’s completely
confidential. Families will be required to pay for meals if they
do not qualify for free or reduced meals. Families can add funds to the
student's lunch account using the online deposit system My School Bucks (MSB) or through the MSB app. Cash and check payments will be accepted
curbside as well. No change will be available for cash payments.

"Rest
