Hello Brave Community! 

 

Happy Wednesday!  I hope that all of our Brave families are doing well! It is August!  Can you believe it? We are planning and preparing to launch an unusual, but AMAZING 2020-2021 school year!  Please see my notes and news below.


Staying Connected:

I will say it again: The start of this school year will look differently than the start of any other school year. Information about the start of the school year was addressed in a series of Virtual Town Halls that were livestreamed on the Board Meeting website.  If you were unable to watch any of the meetings live, recordings of the meetings are available to view on the Board Meeting website.

Virtual or On-Campus? 

If you have not already done so, please use this link to a parent choice form to indicate your choice of virtual or on-campus instruction ASAP.  This will help us plan for the upcoming school year.

 

Free and Reduced Meals:

Apply for free and reduced breakfast and lunch meals here. It only takes about 5 minutes, and it’s completely confidential.

 

Supply Return:

Many of you are waiting on the return of belongings that your child left behind before leaving for Spring Break in March.  If you have driven past Double File Trail in the past two months, you are well aware that our building is under major construction.  We should be able to safely enter the building during the week of August 10, 2020.  We have planned supply return/distribution for Wednesday, August 19, 2020; you will also be able to return library books on this day.  I will share a schedule for supply pickup and library book return in my next newsletter.  We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Thursday, 8/13: Beginning of In-person registration at Double File

Tuesday, 8/18: Meet the Teacher (Virtual)

Wednesday, 8/19: Supply Return/distribution; Library Book Return

Thursday, 8/20: First Day of School (100% Virtual)

Monday 9/7: Holiday: No School!

Thursday, 9/10: First Day that On-Campus Learning is an option

My Belief:

I consider it a privilege and a blessing to serve the Double File Trail Elementary Community as the principal.  I believe in our students and their ability to achieve excellence in education. I want to partner with you to make this happen.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any member of my team in support of your child’s education.  We are ALL here to support and encourage our students to BE BRAVE, CHOOSE KIND and LEAD ON!

Hello Brave Community!  Happy Friday! Today was an amazing day filled with tons of teaching and learning. We ended our day with the excitement of Brave Hour!  Students were gardening, creating visual art, planning a stage play, playing checkers/chess and so much more. New Arrival Procedure Begins Tomorrow!

  Hello Brave Community!  Happy Wednesday evening! We are off to an amazing school year!  Thanks for your patience and support as we launched this new school year!  For the first two days of the school year we were happy to offer our families the opportunity to walk students to class to meet the teacher and observe the new learning environment. Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, 8/17, we will shift to our more permanent arrival procedures. All students will continue to enter through the main entrance Students opting to eat breakfast at school will go directly to the the cafeteria (except for PK; they will go to the library and be escorted to class at 7:25, and then have breakfast at 7:45 with their teachers) PK-2nd Grade students not eating breakfast will go directly to the library 7:10-7:25 3rd-5th Grade students not eating breakfast will go directly to the gym 7:10-7:25 All students will will be released to head to class at 7:25 (PK & Kinder will be escorted by staff The cafe

Brave News 11.28.23

  Hello Brave Community!  Happy Tuesday! I hope that you all had a delightful and restful Thanksgiving Break! I enjoyed time with my family, as well as some really tasty food! I am also enjoying the cooler weather. On that note, please accept my reminder to send your child to school each day that it is cold or even cool outside with a coat or jacket.  If your child does not own a coat or a jacket and you need our help providing one, please contact our lead counselor at clarissa_hollenshead@roundrockisd.org.
