Brave News 11.11.20

Hello Brave Community!

Happy Wednesday! And to all of our veterans, Happy Veterans Day! Thank you for your service to our country!  As the daughter of a veteran and wife of a veteran, I have a special appreciation for those who willingly and proudly serve or have served in the United States Armed Forces. I sincerely hope that you have enjoyed this day! Please see my notes/news below.

As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each month.  Our habit of the month this month is Habit 3: Put First Things First!   We teach our students to prioritize and spend time on things that are most important.

Word of the Week (WOW):

This week’s word is “DEVOUR”.  It is a verb that means to eat or consume something quickly.  Partner with us in focusing on our campus WOW.  Ask your student to use the word in a sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our word.  Thanks for your participation!

APEX Drive Thru Pick Up:

If you have not picked up student’s APEX materials, please come to Double File on Friday, 11/13, 5:00-7:00 to pick up your event day bag, pledge kit, and glow stick. You will also be able to pick up individual prizes earned at this time on Friday. Thanks so much for supporting our school!

Science Fair:

It’s the most wonderful time of the year...time for the DFT Science Fair.  This year our science fair will look very different.  It is going to be virtual.  All projects will be completed on a Google Slide template.  Projects will need to be completed and submitted to Amy Moore by January 14, 2021. If you are interested in receiving more information through email please click here.

From our PTA:

Join us at Hat Creek in Round Rock on Monday, 11/16 for a Spirit Night benefiting Double File Trail PTA! Hat Creek will place a bucket by the register and drive-thru to collect receipts! Be sure to leave your receipt and mention that you are there to support DFT PTA! At the end of the evening Hat Creek will tally up the receipts and give 10% back to DFT PTA, which will in turn go directly back to supporting the students and staff at Double File Trail! Mark your calendars, and plan to enjoy some awesome food at Hat Creek for a good cause!

Yearbooks on Sale:

This year will be one to remember and the yearbook will capture all of it! For a limited time, the yearbooks are on sale for $16. Order yours NOW before it’s too late. It’s easy to Order:  Go to www.balfour.com and enter Double File Trail Elementary School.  Once you purchase using a credit or debit card, you will receive a confirmation email.
