Hello Brave Community!

Happy Wednesday and Happy Spring! I hope that you are all enjoying this beautiful weather!

As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each month.  Our habit of the month for April is Find Your Voice!   We teach our students the importance of finding something that they are good at and sharing it with pride.  We also model helping others and inspiring them to find their voice.

Word of the Week (WOW): This week’s word is “SPONTANEOUS”.  It is an adjective that means acting without a plan.  Partner with us in focusing on our campus WOW.  Ask your student to use the word in a sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our word.  Thanks for your participation!

STAAR Testing:  On Tuesday, 4/6, we take our first STAAR test of the school year. Our 4th grade students will take the Writing STAAR test.  If you have opted for your student to test, please ensure that he/she has a good night’s sleep, is at school on time, and brings his/her fully charged Chromebook.  Also, please note that makeups are on Wednesday, 4/7.

From our Librarian: Introducing virtual book clubs for PK-2nd grade and 3rd-5th!  We are starting two new book clubs that will run after Spring Break to the end of the school year. Mrs. Rabe will be reading new picture books and chapter books aloud and leading a discussion.  Please click here if your student is interested!  Enrollment is limited to 15 students per club to allow for easy discussion.

Especially for 5th Grade Parents…   Save the date: 5th Grade Completion Ceremony: Wednesday, 5/26! (More information to come.)

Parents of Bus Riders:  Please use the following link to register for the Smart-Tag Parent portal. You need to be registered in order to receive communication from transportation, such as late bus notifications. parent.smart-tag.net More information about Smart-Tag can be found at: transportation.roundrockisd.org/smart-tag/

Asynchronous Days:  The final asynchronous day for this school year is Monday, May 3, 2021. This day will allow us some much needed time to prepare the most exceptional teaching and learning experience possible for all of our BRAVE students!

From our Parent Liaison, Daisy Guerrero:  You are invited to continue receiving great information about helping your student at home. This time you will be receiving text messages when you sign up. The tips are simple, straight-forward, and designed to encourage conversations and connections. Check out the flyers to get more info!  English Flyer pdf    Spanish Flyer pdf

From the Social Work Team:  The Social Work team is busy creating an easy to use community resource list. This list can be found here. Note the tabs at the bottom that will take you to the various categories of resources. This is a living document that will be updated as we discover all of the wonderful resources that the area has to offer. Another great website for resources is Connect ATX.
