Hello, Brave Community! 

Happy Wednesday! I hope that this newsletter finds you healthy and well. By now I am sure that you are aware that RRISD has canceled school for the remainder of this week.  Please take care and stay warm!

As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each month.  Our habit of the month this month is Habit 6: Synergize!  We teach our students the importance of getting along well with others and working with a group.  We encourage students to value the strength of others and learn from one another. 

Word of the Week (WOW):

This week’s word is REPEL.  It is a verb that means “to force backward”.  Partner with us in focusing on our campus WOW.  Ask your student to use the word in a sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our word.  Thanks for your participation!

 

Safety Drills:

We regularly conduct safety drills on campus with our students. It is imperative that each student understands how to respond should there be a safety emergency.  Our last round of safety drills was conducted on Thursday, January 20th. Students successfully participated in each drill (Evacuation, Severe Weather, Lock Down, and Lock Out). Lunch Menu for Monday and Tuesday:

Due to the school closure, the following adjustments are being made to the lunch menu next week:

Monday: Tray 1: Beef Nachos, Tray 2: WowButter Jelly Sandwich, Tray 3: Ham Pizza Salad

Tuesday: Tray 1: Cheese and Pepperoni Pizza, Tray 2: Tuna Sandwich, Tray 3: Ham Pizza Salad


Valenkind Kindness Week:

Monday: Braves have heart! Wear red or pink!

Tuesday: Say “Yellow” to someone new!  Wear yellow!

Wednesday: Work problems out with kindness! Wear workout clothes!

Thursday: Crazy for kindness! Wear crazy hair and socks!

Friday: Dream of a kinder world! Wear cozy clothes or PJs!

  

From Family Connections:

We are excited to host a virtual session for families as part of our ongoing Early Learners series! This virtual session will focus on building vocabulary through oral language development. We will share 3 strategies families can use in their everyday lives to support student academic success.  Also, each participant will receive a free Scholastic bag full of resources! There will be two sessions on Tuesday, February 15th: 10:00-10:30 a.m. or 6:30-7:00 p.m.  Families must register here by Feb 9th.

Hello Brave Community!  Happy Friday! Today was an amazing day filled with tons of teaching and learning. We ended our day with the excitement of Brave Hour!  Students were gardening, creating visual art, planning a stage play, playing checkers/chess and so much more. New Arrival Procedure Begins Tomorrow!

  Hello Brave Community!  Happy Wednesday evening! We are off to an amazing school year!  Thanks for your patience and support as we launched this new school year!  For the first two days of the school year we were happy to offer our families the opportunity to walk students to class to meet the teacher and observe the new learning environment. Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, 8/17, we will shift to our more permanent arrival procedures. All students will continue to enter through the main entrance Students opting to eat breakfast at school will go directly to the the cafeteria (except for PK; they will go to the library and be escorted to class at 7:25, and then have breakfast at 7:45 with their teachers) PK-2nd Grade students not eating breakfast will go directly to the library 7:10-7:25 3rd-5th Grade students not eating breakfast will go directly to the gym 7:10-7:25 All students will will be released to head to class at 7:25 (PK & Kinder will be escorted by staff The cafe

  Hello Brave Community!  Happy Tuesday! I hope that you all had a delightful and restful Thanksgiving Break! I enjoyed time with my family, as well as some really tasty food! I am also enjoying the cooler weather. On that note, please accept my reminder to send your child to school each day that it is cold or even cool outside with a coat or jacket.  If your child does not own a coat or a jacket and you need our help providing one, please contact our lead counselor at clarissa_hollenshead@roundrockisd.org.
