Brave News 1.10.23

 Hello Brave Community!

Happy Tuesday and Happy New Year! I hope that you are enjoying this beautiful weather. While it is not entirely or consistently cold outside, it is pretty cool on most school days during this time of year. Please remember to send your child to school each day during this season with a coat or a jacket so that they are able to comfortably enjoy recess. If your child does not have a coat or a jacket, we can help.  Please consider contacting me, Mrs. Page (angela_page@roundrockisd.org) or one of our counselors (clarissa_hollenshead@roundrockisd.org or mae_grant@roundrockisd.org) for assistance. We want to make sure that each of our Brave leaders is well taken care of!

As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each month.  Our habit of the month for January is Habit 6: Synergize!  We teach our students the importance of getting along well with others and working with a group.  We encourage students to value the strength of others and learn from one another.

Word of the Week (WOW):

Each week we have a word of the week. This week’s word of the week is JOVIAL.  It is an adjective that means cheerful and friendly. Ask your student to use the word in a sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our word.  Thanks for your participation!

Science Fair is Friday, 1/13!

The Science Fair will be held this Friday, January 13th, during the school day. Participation in the Science Fair is mandatory for all 4th and 5th graders, but optional for all other students. All Science Fair projects must be on campus by Thursday, 1/12. We encourage students to bring in projects early, but we also have a Thursday evening project drop off time from 3:30-5:00 pm. Families are welcome to view Science Fair projects on Friday, 1/13, 12:30-2:00 pm. To visit the Science Fair, please stop by the front office to obtain a visitor’s pass. Thank you!

From our PTA - School Store:

The School Store is open every Friday before school from 7:10-7:35. Everything is $1 (cash only).

From our PTA - Snack Drive:

DFT PTA is conducting a SNACK DRIVE to restock classroom snacks for our wonderful school!  Snacks for students are running low and we would love to help replenish them so teachers aren't buying snacks out of pocket!  Please take a minute to check out our Amazon list; any snacks purchased through this list will be delivered to the school! If Amazon isn't your thing, feel free to drop off any snacks you purchase to the front office during school hours.  Thank you so much for your support!
