Brave News 2.21.23

Hello Brave Community!

Happy Monday! I don’t know about you, but I am completely enjoying this mild weather! Winter (however brief) always deepens my appreciation for Spring weather. It is the perfect weather to go outside and Sharpen Your Saw! (See below.)

As a Leader in Me campus, we highlight one of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People each month.  Our habit of the month for January is Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw!  We teach our students the importance of taking care of their mind and body. We encourage students to value self-care and self-renewal.

Word of the Week (WOW):

Each week we have a word of the week. This week’s word of the week is INSPIRE.  It is a verb that means to encourage somebody to do something. Ask your student to use the word in a sentence or perhaps you could be very intentional in your use of our word.  Thanks for your participation!

UIL:

Congratulations to all of the students who participated in UIL last month. Parents, thank you for your support. Our students performed amazingly well! We finished in 3rd place in our Stony Point learning community! I can’t wait to celebrate on Thursday at 3pm with all of the students and teachers that worked so hard to bring so much pride and honor to Double File Trail! Lastly, we are especially grateful for Mrs. Michelle Small, who did an outstanding job as our campus UIL coordinator.  UIL Results!

From Parent Programs:

We are excited to share with you our upcoming Parent Programs SEL initiative- "Family Conversation Kits." These kits will be provided for 4th and 5th grade families, and include fun and engaging materials to encourage meaningful conversations! Families will also have the opportunity to join our Remind class and ask any follow-up questions. These questions will be promptly answered by our district SEL experts!

We are asking families to register for the kit for a follow up that will allow building the connection between home and school.  Check out our fun promo video to help spread the word about these conversation kits. I am also including the flyer with the link to register

Note:  Please fill out this pre-registration link if you are planning to attend Leadership Day so that we can print you a badge ahead of time!
